road connectivity in arunachal Poultry, Meghalayapiggery farming imparting to displaced persons by NE NEWS NOW Imphal, July 17, 2023: Over 50 internally displaced individuals including women are imparting a skill development training programme on poultry, piggery and dairy farming at Mekola Gulab Higher Secondary School, a relief camp near Imphal Airport. As per the instruction of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Minister Khashim Vashum, the Department is organising training programmes on piggery and poultry farming at the relief camps opened across the State. In the ongoing communal clash between the Kukis and Meities, over 60,000 people are displaced and they are taking shelter in 350 relief camps at different locations in the state. The eight daylong training programme would be continued till July 22, 2023. The training was imparted by Dr Devkeshor, V.O., Dr Tonsana Sing, V.O., Dr Subhaschandra Singh, V.O., Dr Dilrash M, V.O. and Dr Ng. Saratchandra Singh, V.O. of District Vety. Office, Imphal West. Around 50 inmates who had attended the training programme were also distributed relief materials. Meanwhile, a 3-day long skill development training programme on piggery farming organised by District Veterinary Office, Imphal East, concluded on Sunday at the relief camp set up in Ideal Girls' College, Akampat, Imphal East district. It was conducted in collaboration with the District Administration Imphal East and Thongju Kendra Relief Committee. The final day of the training programme was attended by District Veterinary Office Imphal East, Joint Director, Dr L Arun Kumar as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Dr L Arun Kumar shared that the training on piggery farming was participated by 168 inmates of the relief camp. He stated that about 720 displaced persons from Moreh and Churachandpur are currently taking shelter at the relief camp run by the Thongju Kendra Relief Committee. He mentioned that about 120 inmates of the relief camp also took part in the 3-day skill development training programme on poultry farming. Angousana Meitei whose house was burnt down in the violence in Moreh said that he was happy to attend the programme and said that he would start a new lease of life in the coming days. As part of the event, certificates were handed over to about 168 trainees. (The end)
