India on Wednesday recorded more than 1000 deaths due to COVID-19, with 73 fatalities being reported in the last 24 hours.
The total number of coronavirus cases in India surged to 31332 and the number of deads to 1007 on Wednesday.
The total number of active coronavirus cases is 22629 and a total of 7695 people suffering from coronavirus have either been cured or discharged in the country so far.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday said that there are now seventeen districts in the country where earlier cases had come but no new case has been reported from there for the last 28 days.
The health ministry also stated that there are presently no approved therapies for COVID-19 and plasma therapy is still at an experimental stage.
“Regarding plasma therapy for COVID-19, ICMR has already stated clearly that currently there are no approved therapies for COVID-19 including plasma therapy,” the ministry stated
“It is one of the many therapies which are being experimented with. However, so far there is no evidence to support it as a treatment. ICMR has also started a National Study to evaluate the efficacy of the therapy,” it said.
“ However, it needs to be clarified that until ICMR concludes its study and robust scientific proof is available, it should not be used except for research and trial purposes,” it added.
