“Before elections the Assam CM had promised women of the State complete waiver of micro-finance loans. But after the elections, the CM informed that only a section of loans would be waived. This is fraud,” Gaurav Gogoi said.
“I would like to see women of the State filing fraud case against CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for not fulfilling poll promises,” Gaurav Gogoi added.

Briefing the media, Lok Sabha MP and senior Assam Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said that the Assam Chief Minister must focus on the works in his hand, rather than breaking other parties.
Gogoi said: “CM Himanta Biswa Sarma must focus on his work instead of trying to break other parties.”
“The BJP Government in Assam has been trying to expand its syndicates, which is why they want a silent opposition. So, they are trying to break the opposition parties” Gogoi alleged.
The senior Assam Congress leader also accused the BJP of intimidating individuals, journalists and organisations who have been raising voice against the government.

Speaking on the Assam Government’s recent remarks on population control policy, Gaurav Gogoi said that CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is trying to follow the footsteps of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
“Why the Assam Government is not talking about wildlife conservation policy? Why only population control policy? This shows that Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is trying to copy UP CM Yogi Adityanath,” Assam Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said.
Gaurav Gogoi further accused the Assam CM for ‘misleading’ the people of the State in regards to Niti Ayog’s SDG indexing of States.
“The Chief Minister of Assam first claimed that Assam had progressed from being an aspirant category in 2018 to Performer Category in 2020… (But) Assam’s overall rank in this recent survey dropped from 23rd to 26th,” Gogoi said.
“Assam ranked lowest, 28th for women empowerment i.e. in the category of gender parity and equality. Economically, Assam has the lowest score in entire Northeast. Assam’s rank droped from 17 in 2019 to 22 in 2020,” Gaurav Gogoi further said.
“In education category, Assam ranks 24 out of 28 states. In the health sector, Assam has the lowest score of 59 among all the states,” Gaurav Gogoi added.
