District Level Supervision and Monitoring Committee (DLSMC) has decided to distribute free textbooks to schools in Darrang district of Assam on December 30.

The decision was taken on Thursday in a meeting held with Vijay Bhaskar Reddy, additional deputy commissioner in-charge of development.

The free textbooks will be distributed at Mangaldai Town Boys’ LP School.

The meeting was attended by a majority of DLSMC members including its member secretary-cum-District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO) Jowahira Tabossom.

Inspector of Schools Madhab Ch Deka, DIET principal DIET Madhab Ch Sarma, veteran academician Bichitra Kr Medhi, Darrang AASU president Khanindra Rajbongshi, central adviser AJYCP Bhabesh Kakati and others were present in the meeting.

DLSMC will supervise the overall distribution process and will take up required remedial measures accordingly to ensure the smooth distribution within stipulated time limits.

DLSMC will also take necessary steps to physically verify different blocks and schools to assure that no eligible students are left out without getting textbooks within the time frame.
