Reacting to Amit Shah’s remarks, senior Assam Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi accused the BJP Government in Assam of “deceiving the people” of the State.

“How will people trust the BJP again? The BJP promised so much on solving the floods issue. But they failed to address the issue in the last 5 years. The BJP has been deceiving the people of the State,” Pradyut Bordoloi said.

Amit Shah had further stated that under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, conflict and violence in Assam decreased.

This statement from the Union Home Minister was also heavily criticised by Pradyut Bordoloi.

Pradyut Bordoloi slammed Amit Shah and the BJP for taking “credit of making Assam peaceful and militancy-free”.

“Then why is the Armed Forces Special Powers Act still in effect, and why has the State Government announced Assam as a ‘disturbed area’ for another six months under AFSPA?” Pradyut Bordoloi questioned.

Bora further accused Amit Shah of pushing Assam back to the days of conflict and militancy by introducing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
