Arunachal Pradesh chief secretary Satya Gopal has outlined the empowerment of children and arresting school dropout cases as the major tasks before the state’s Education department.
Addressing the executive committee meeting and state-level steering-cum-monitoring committee meeting of the department at the Civil Secretariat in Itanagar on Tuesday, Gopal said the education system should accord top priority to empowering children. Besides normal school study routine, he emphasised on imparting training in skill development and computer education as important parts of the school activities.

He asked the department to identify the factors leading to dropouts at various levels of school education. The factors for dropout should be identified and accordingly redressed, he said.
Our objective should be to provide the best education and ensure that we are ahead of the national average of National Achievement Survey, he told the members present in the meeting.
“We still have a long way to go. To see the desired result, all officers and officials should concentrate and work in a time-bound action manner. Awareness of teacher is of utmost importance,” he said, supporting the idea of customised training for heads of GHSS and GSS. He also felt the need to provide training to PGTs and TGTs.

During the meeting he also said that there should not be any discrepancy, and money should be spent for the purpose for which it has been granted.
Education Secretary Madhu Rani Teotia gave detailed information on the budget grants in various policies and programmes and its status under the Education department.
Commissioners and secretaries concerned, the director of education and other officials were present in the meeting.
