IPS officer Daulat Singh Negi, who was serving as the superintendent of police (SP) of Dibrugarh district, was martyred during an ambush by United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) on his way back home after a raid on July 29, 1990.

“IPS Association remembers Shri Daulat Singh Negi on 30th anniversary of his martyrdom. Posted as Superintendent of Police, Dibrugarh, Sh. Negi was on his way back from a raid when he was ambushed by insurgents,” the IPS Association tweeted on Wednesday.

“His life & service will inspire generations to come,” the Association said.

Negi initiated strict measures to capture the top brass of the militant organization after it killed several important personalities of Assam and succeeded in his efforts but lost his life in an ambush.
