Along with rest of the nation, the Congress in Tripura also celebrated its 135th Foundation Day as ‘Bharat Bachao, Samvidhan Bachao, Ganatantro Bachao Diwas‘.

Taking part in the programme, the Congress leaders and supporters raised anti Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) slogans.

Earlier in the day, the Congress leaders and supporters gathered at Congress Bhawan and they paid floral tributes to the former leaders of the party.

Tripura Congress president Pijush Biswas, addressing the rally, lashed out at the BJP-led central government for passing CAA in the Parliament.

“Under the BJP regime, the country is facing worse condition. The economic condition of the country is deteriorating rapidly,” Biswas said.

“The Centre, however, is busy in dividing the people in the name of religion,” he reiterated.

Senior Congress leader Gopal Roy spoke about the party’s role during India’s freedom struggle and recalled about the sacrifices made by the people of the country.

“The BJP-led NDA government in the centre has ruined the country. It is solely responsible for the present situation of the country,” he said.

“The ‘Jumla Sardar’ Narendra Modi did nothing good for the country. Rather he brought poverty, unemployment and economic crisis,” he added.

“For the skyrocketing prices of essential goods, the Prime Minister is solely responsible,” Roy reiterated.
