The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) in Meghalaya is going to conduct the election for appointment of the Syiem of Hima Mylliem soon.

This was informed by KHADC deputy chief executive member in-charge Elaka, Pynïaid Sing Syiem on Thursday adding that the date for election is likely to be notified next week.

He also said that the decision to hold the election was taken after the suspended Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Latho Manik Syiem had withdrawn the case filed against the Council.

Notably, Latho Manik Syiem was put under suspension by the then Executive Committee led by Pynshngaiñ N Syiem in April, 2016 following allegations of embezzlement of money.

The affairs of the Hima Mylliem at present are being taking care by the acting Syiem, Ainam Manik Syiem, according to reports. Prior to his appointment, the KHADC had appointed Ricky Nelson Syiem as the acting Syiem.
