Parts of the Northeast are set to experience heavy rainfall activity during the next two days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the strengthening of moist, lower-level south-westerly winds blowing in from the Bay of Bengal will create meteorological conditions that facilitate intense rainfall over the region.

Therefore, widespread showers are expected across the Northeast for the next five days, Weather.Com reported.

Moreover, isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Arunachal Pradesh from Friday to Sunday; over Assam and Meghalaya from Friday to Monday; and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, the rain spell over the Northeast has prevailed since the beginning of this week.

On Thursday, between the morning and afternoon hours, rainfall was recorded at most places in Arunachal Pradesh; and at a few places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
