Within less than eight hours, Assam has recorded four more COVID19 positive cases taking the total to 24.

At 11:30 pm on Friday, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the news of 3 new COVID19 positive cases in the state through his Twitter handle.

And at 12.20 am on Saturday, the minister again tweeted stating that one more COVI19 case has been confirmed.

Informing about the 3 cases, the health minister said the cases are from Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup (Rural) and Morigaon districts.

He also claimed that out of the three cases, two were involved in the religious congregation of Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz.

Health minister Sarma tweeted: “Alert ~Three more #Covid_19 positive cases have been confirmed, one each from Kamrup (metro),Kamrup and Marigaon taking the total number in Assam to 23.”

“Two out of these three cases are of patients who are related to #NizamuddinMarkaz event,” he added.

The minister informed that the 24th case is from Golaghat district.

Sarma tweeted: “Alert ~ One more #Covid_19 positive case from Golaghat  has been confirmed, taking the total number in Assam to 24.”

The minister also said the new case from Golaghat is related to Nizamuddin Markaz event in Delhi.

On Thursday, Goalghat had recorded 8 COVID19 cases.

Earlier at 5:06 pm on Friday, health minister Sarma had informed about four new COVID19.

Confirming the news in the evening he tweeted that four more people tested positive for COVID19.

Out of those four positive cases, three were from Nalbari district while the fourth one was from South Salmara Mankachar.

Sarma also claimed that all the patients had attended the religious congregation at Tablighi Jamaat Markaz in Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz.

As per reports, three of the COVID-19 positive cases, which were detected in Nalbari, came from Uttar Pradesh (UP).

They arrived in Nalbari between March 19-22.

Sources said the trio came to Nalbari for publicity of Tablighi Jamaat activities.

They were reportedly hiding at Mallapara area in the district.

The trio has been admitted to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in the city for treatment.

The MMCH has already been equipped to treat COVID-19 patients.

Officials said the positive case in South Salmara Mankachar district returned from Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi on March 23.
