Jorhat based Tocklai Tea Research Institute (TTRI) will soon come up with an Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence.
The centre will be first of its kind for tea industry globally.
Agnext Technologies, one of the leading Agri-tech companies based in Mohali, has offered to set up the Center at Tocklai at their own cost to accelerate data driven technologies in the tea industry, ET reported.
Tea Research Association (TRA) secretary Joydeep Phukan said the TRA chairman agreed in principle to offer some space at the campus and Agnext will build a state of the art facilities.
Phukan said it is a collaborative effort between TRA Tocklai and Agnext Technologies to fully work on artificial intelligence and data driven technology.
Assam is the largest producer of tea in India and can be called as the hub of tea industry of the country.
The TTRI in collaboration with AgNext Technologies, had last year come out with a fine leaf count machine, called TRAgnext QualiTeaProfiler, based on artificial intelligence.
