Assam government is all set to provide drinking water facilities to urban households of the state from Brahmaputra. This facility will be provided under AMRUT scheme.
The Chairman of Assam Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board Dr. Numal Momin said, this ambitious project will start soon with the financial assistance of the Centre.
This project will provide arsenic and fluoride free drinking water to people.
Dr. Mumin said that steps are being taken to complete the defunct urban water supply schemes. He also said that the state government would provide 50 lakh rupees to each assembly constituencies to complete defunct water supply schemes in rural areas.
AMRUT stands for Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2015 with the focus to establish infrastructure that could ensure adequate robust sewage networks and water supply for urban transformation by implementing urban revival projects.
