The Na Bora Chuk Model Hospital Covid Care Centre in Assam’s Jorhat district has designated Covid-19 survivors as ‘ambassadors of hope’ to spread awareness on appropriate behaviour to prevent the spread of the virus.

The hospital has taken this initiative to widen the ambit of awareness on Covid-19 among the people in Jorhat district.

The hospital furnished certificates of appreciation on Saturday,  congratulating all those patients who tested negative for the novel coronavirus and would be returning home after successfully  recovering from the infection.

“Our medical staff, including doctors, nursing and paramedical staff and sweepers is glad to have played a role in your road to recovery,” the certificate states.

The Covid-19 pandemic has posed a great threat to the health, economic and emotional well being of the public. The society needs to be more aware about the disease so that it can be defeated.

“You have experienced the disease course yourself and so, we appeal to you to become ambassadors of hope in your locality,” the certificate stated.

The patients were asked to tell their families about the importance of wearing masks, sanitizing and washing hands and maintaining social distance.

They were also asked to consume a healthy food, maintain hygiene and take their medications on time.

Recovered patients can contact the medical fraternity by dialling ‘104’ in case they experience any health problem during the post-Covid period.

Jorhat additional deputy commissioner Damodar Barman said that the initiative was a means to encourage patients to motivate others to follow all Covid-19 protocols.
