Along with the rest of Assam, the protests against CAB have also been intensified in Darrang district on Wednesday.

The protesters first staged road blockade at Bhebarghat for around half an hour and then they marched forward to Mangaldai College in front of which they burnt the effigies of Mangaldai MP Dilip Saikia for his pro-CAB stand in the Parliament and Mangaldai legislator Gurujyoti Das for his silence against the contentious Bill.

The protesters also shouted slogans against the BJP led government both at the Centre and the State.

Darrang AASU leaders Arupjyoti Kalita, Khanindra Rajbongshi strongly refuted the pro-CAB stand of MP Dilip Saikia and warned him of rigorous public protests if he continues such anti-Assamese role in near future.

Earlier on Monday and Tuesday evening the inter Mangaldai wing of the Darrang AASU in support of several other local like minded organizations and people took out a massive torch light rally through the main thorough fares of the district head quarter town.
