Celebrating the ‘Rabha Divas’ on Sunday the Asom Yuva Parishad (AYP) conferred the ‘Kalaguru Bota’ on Assamese artiste Pabitra Rabha.

The award was presented to the National School of Drama (NSD) alumni at his residence in Jalah village on the outskirts of Tangla in Assam’s Udalguri district.

Rabha runs the theatre troupe ‘Dapon-The Mirror’ that have staged plays across India.

His role in mentoring dwarf actors of Assam and helping them to become successful theatre personalities is notable.
The award carried a bihuwan, Xorai, Japi, memento, certificate and an honorarium.
“We must honour the persons who have been constantly endeavoring towards the inclusive growth of the community in particular and society at large,” said Jitu Borgohain, president of Asom Yuva Parishad.
AYP members also extended rations for the dwarf theatre artistes of Dapon – The Mirror.
