The accused officer, Inspector Bhargav Borbora, who serves as the Officer-in-Charge of Panbazar Police Station, has been suspended with immediate effect.

Guwahati: A delivery boy has filed an FIR against Assam Police Inspector Bhargav Borbora, the now-suspended Officer-in-Charge of Panbazar Police Station, who brutally assaulted him on street in Guwahati.

The incident, which occurred on Friday night in Fancy Bazar, was captured on video and widely shared online, sparking public outrage. The footage shows Borbora aggressively confronting and assaulting the delivery boy, Gnyandeep Hazarika, a Cotton University student.

Hazarika, who had mistakenly entered a no-entry zone, was subjected to verbal abuse and physical assault by the police officer. Despite pleas from bystanders to stop, Borbora continued his aggressive behavior, threatening the victim and even other onlookers who were recording the incident.

Following the public outcry and widespread condemnation, Assam police took action, suspending Inspector Bhargav Borbora from duty.

In addition to Hazarika’s FIR, another complaint has been filed against Borbora by Palash Ranjan Baruah, a resident of Beltola.
