Unidentified miscreants on Monday morning threatened former BJP leader and social activist Mira Borthakur for her proactive stand against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA.

“I found this letter today morning outside my residence,” Borthakur said in a video posted on social media flashing the threat note.

“Some miscreants have asked me to stop speaking against CAA and criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Borthakur said while reading out the letter.

“Try to remain Assamese and stop advocating for the Bangladeshis and stop doing politics in the name of Muslims,” the letter added.

“We will not tolerate a single word against Narendra Modi any further. If you don’t stop provocative speeches in anti-CAA rallies then you will be punished accordingly,” Borthakur said while reading out the letter aloud.

The letter, however, did not carry any identity about the writer.

The sender asked Borthakur to take the letter with all seriousness.

After receiving the letter, Borthakur lodged an FIR with the Hatigaon Police Station.
