The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Assam, MC Sahu, informed on Monday that the total number of first-time voters in Assam for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls is around 7, 06,489.  Among these first-time voters who are all within the age group of 18-19 years, 4,04,715 are males while 3,01,774 are females, as per reports.

The CEO also revealed that the number of voters in the age group of 20-29 years and 30-39 years are 57, 08,688 and 56, 69,525, respectively. The total number of male voters and female voters in the age group of 20-29 years are 28, 75,796 and 28, 32,892, respectively.

Among the voters in the age group of 30-39 years, 28,73,079 are males and 27,96,446 are females. The total number of voters in the age group of 40-49 years and 50-59 years are 43, 04,485 and 28, 93,302, respectively. Among the voters in the age group of 40-49 years, there are 21, 69,394 males and 21, 35,091 females.

The total number of male voters and female voters in the age group of 50-59 years are 15, 34,901 and 13, 58, 40, respectively. In the age group of 60-69 years, there are 15, 34,934 voters with 8, 15,909 males and 7, 19,025 females. In the age group of 70-79 years, there are 6, 82,332 voters with 3, 34,824 males and 3, 47,508 females.

The total number of voters who are more than 80 years old are 2, 60,849 with 1, 24,164 males and 1, 36,685 females. Altogether, a total number of 2, 17, 60,604 voters have been registered in the 2019 photo electoral roll. In Phase-I of polling to be held on April 11 next, altogether 75, 16,284 voters will be able to exercise their franchise in 9,574 polling stations in Assam.

In Phase-II of polling to be held on April 18 next, a total of 68,36,496 voters will cast their votes in 8,992 polling stations while in the last phase of polling in Assam on April 23 next, altogether 74,07,824 voters will be able to vote in 9,577 polling stations across the State, Sahu further informed.
