The Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Kohima under Nagaland State Agriculture Marketing Board (NSAMB) has built a marketing shed for organic farmers of Kohima at TCP Gate junction on Thursday.
The market named as APMC Organic Market was formally inaugurated by Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) administrator in the presence of officials from APMC Kohima.
On the inaugural occasion, Meyase said that the shed has been built in accordance with the principles of Kohima Smart City and has urged the farmers who mainly use to sell their produce at footpaths to make use of the marketing shed for their business.
He also urged the farmers to cooperate with the KMC and keep their surroundings clean as the KMC has always made possible efforts to keep the city clean.
Appreciating the APMC staff for the construction of the marketing shed, he asked the farmers to stop selling their produce on the footpaths and also urged them to minimize the use of plastic bags in the marketing shed.
Kevinourheno Seyie, chairman, APMC Kohima said the marketing shed has been constructed to provide a platform for organic farmers to sell their organic produces and boost the economy of the state, reports The Morung Express.
Tia Jamir, member secretary APMC Kohima said the idea behind construction of this marketing shed is also to help promote organic farming.
