The United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) has asked Oil India Limited (OIL) to make the recruitment process discrimination-free and give chance to every eligible indigenous candidate of the state.
The militant outfit said the local youths should get first preference in the oil sector.

Recently, OIL released an employment notification for the recruitment of 120 Junior Assistants (Clerk-cum-Computer Operator) for OIL’s production and exploration areas in the districts of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar and Charaideo in Assam and Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh.
August 15, 2021 has been fixed as the last date for online application.
“The indigenous people of Assam have actual rights over the natural resources of Assam. They have every right to enjoy every benefit from the industries which has been built on these resources, be it jobs or other benefits,” the ULFA(I) statement said.

“But we have seen that Oil India Limited has recently issued a notification for the recruitment of candidates from only Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar and Charaideo in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district,” the outfit stated.
It further stated, “The candidates of other districts have been deprived of the opportunity. Therefore we, the ULFA-Independent oppose the biased behaviour of Oil India Limited.”
“Instead of giving opportunities to candidates from only these four districts, OIL should give fair chance to each eligible indigenous candidate of Assam,” the outfit further said.
