Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and Raijor Dal have forged an alliance for the upcoming Assembly Elections in Assam.
Notably, the AJP and the Raijor Dal, two regional parties are offshoots of the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests that rocked Assam in December 2019.
AJP President Lurin Jyoti Gogoi made a formal announcement about the development on Thursday after meeting Raijor Dal President Akhil Gogoi.
“AJP and raijor Dal will fight the national parties and their allies in the State together in the upcoming polls,” said AJP President Luri Jyoti Gogoi.
Elections to the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly is slated to be held in April-May this year.

The AJP and Raijor Dal have further clarified that they will not enter the Congress-led Grand Alliance in the State.
With the announcement of the alliance between AJP and Raijor Dal, the Assam Assembly Elections are all set to be a three-front war.
While the BJP and its allies like the AGP and UPPL will be on one side, the Congress-led Grand Alliance comprising of AIUDF and 4 other parties will be on the other side.
The AJP-Raijor Dal alliance has now opened up a third front.
However, AJP President Lurin Jyoti Gogoi has downplayed the three-front contest claims saying that “the contest will rather be a two-front affair – Regional parties vs National parties”.
