Congress’ Lok Sabha MP from Koliabor constituency in Assam, Gaurav Gogoi has urged newly formed regional parties in the State – the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and Raijor Dal to join the grand alliance.

Speaking at the extended executive meeting of the Golaghat Congress unit, Gaurav Gogoi requested AJP president Lurin Jyoti Gogoi and Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi to consider joining the grand alliance.

The Congress leader further launching a scathing attack on the BJP said, “Congress do not play divisive politics, be it in the name of Barak and Brahmaputra Valleys, or upper or lower Assam, Hindu-Muslim or be it Bodos and Non-Bodos. Congress bats for One India One Assam.”

Earlier on January 23, the Congress forged a ‘Grand Alliance’ with Maulana Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF and four other parties to fight the upcoming Assam Assembly polls 2021.

Notably, war of words between the ruling and opposition parties in Assam has escalated ahead of the Assembly Elections in the State.

Assam is all set to go for polls for the Assembly Elections, which is likely to be held in April-May this year.
