For the first time since 73 years of India’s independence, a Government bus has started plying between Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district and Anini in Dibang Valley district near the India-China border.
The bus service along the new two-lane highway that connects the two frontier State towns was flagged off on Friday at Anini.
The newly pitched 233-kilometre long 2-lane highway is strategically vital for the defense forces as it will reduce the travel distance and time for transportation of military equipment to the forward areas of the border with China.
The Government bus service between Roing and Anini was flagged off at Anini by MLA Mopi Mihu in the presence of Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa.
Speaking on the flagging off of the bus service along the new 2-lane highway, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing in a “sea of change” in road connectivity in the State.

A 2×2 seater Force Traveller mini bus under the Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Service (APSTS) was the first Government bus to ply between the two towns.
“APSTS department has introduced a Force Traveller, Mini Bus (2×2 seater) service on Anini to Roing and vice-versa route from Anini in Dibang Valley district,” informed officials of the APSTS.
