Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Assam on January 23.
His visit gains prominence ahead of the forthcoming state assembly elections.
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday that the Prime Minister is likely to visit the state to boost the confidence of BJP leaders and party workers ahead of the assembly polls.
However, there is no official confirmation about his visit so far.

The health minister also said that Union minister Amit Shah was also likely to visit Assam on January 24 to participate in public meetings in Nalbari and Kokrajhar.
Shad on December 26 had arrived in Guwahati on a three-day visit to the Northeast.
He virtually launched the Asom Darshan Scheme during his stay in the city.
Financial assistance worth Rs 200 crores was provided to 8000 namghars across Assam under the Asom Darshan Scheme.
He also visited Manipur and virtually inaugurated several development projects there.
