Imphal: Security forces conducted a series of operations across Manipur on Wednesday, resulting in the seizure of suspected narcotics, firearms and communication equipment, while two alleged insurgent and drug-related operatives were arrested in separate cases.

In Churachandpur district, police arrested 35-year-old Ngamkhojang Kipgen, a resident of Tuidam Village who was reportedly staying at Lhangnem Village. The Churachandpur Police Station team carried out a raid at Misao Lhahvom Village and recovered around 785 grams of suspected brown sugar packed in 60 soap cases.

A Pulsar motorcycle was also seized from his possession, police said.

In a separate operation, personnel from Wangoi Police Station and Central Security Forces conducted a search along the banks of the Waishen River following intelligence inputs.

The operation led to the recovery of a cache of weapons and communication equipment, including a 7.62 mm SLR rifle with a magazine, one SBBL gun, nine rounds of assorted live ammunition and three wireless communication sets.

Meanwhile, the Bishnupur Commando unit arrested 48-year-old Md. Karimuddin Shah alias Rafe, who police identified as an active cadre of the UNLF (P).

Shah was apprehended from Kwakta Khuman Awang Leikai. According to police, he was allegedly involved in a grenade attack at Kwakta Terakhongshangbi in 2025.

A mobile phone and a Honda Activa scooter were recovered from his possession, officials said.

The arrested persons and seized items have been taken into custody, while further investigations are underway to establish the wider links and networks involved in the cases.
