Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Wednesday released a book titled ‘Ecology, Environment and Conservation’ in the conference hall of Raj Bhavan in Guwahati.

The book was published by the Centre for Environment, Education and Economic Development (CEEED) in collaboration with the Department of Zoology, Cotton University.

Speaking on the occasion the Governor emphasized on the importance of conserving bio-diversity and the role of academicians and administrators in the process.

The Governor also congratulated the academicians involved in the publication of the book.

Considering the rich bio-diversity available in Assam and other north-eastern states, the release of the book would sensitize the people around and act as a force multiplier for the stake holders to champion the cause of bio-diversity conservation, the Governor added.

It may be mentioned that the book ‘Ecology, Environment and Conservation’ intends to comprehensively address the causes, interrelationships, outcomes and policy implications from different perspectives with respect to the areas of education, economics, biodiversity, innovation, technology and other instruments which have the ability motivate stakeholders to conserve and maintain natural resources and biodiversity.

The launching ceremony was attended by chairperson (Academics) Assam Royal Global University Prof Alak Buragohain, dean of the Swagat Academy of Medical Sciences Prof Subhash Khanna, Commissioner and secretary of the Governor Sanjiv Kumar Gohain Barua.

Head, Department of Zoology, Cotton University Dr Karobi Saikia, senior faculty of the Department of Zoology, Cotton University and editor-in-chief of the book Dr Arup Kumar Hazarika along with a host of other dignitaries were also present.
