Imphal: The Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) has demanded that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) expose the motive and conspiracy behind the April 7 IED blast that killed two young children and critically injured their mother in Tronglaobi Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district.
The apex bodyโs demand follows the September 25 arrest of a second suspect, 48-year-old Thangmang Haokip, who has been remanded to 12 days of police custody.
Earlier, authorities arrested S. Palal Thadou Kuki, an alleged finance chief of the banned United Kuki National Army (UKNA), naming him as a key perpetrator behind the attack.
TIM noted that the bombing coincided with the 8th State-Level Hun-Thadou Cultural Festival in Imphal. Ahead of the event, the organisation had flagged public threats and armed intimidation aimed at deterring community members from attending.
Representatives are now questioning whether the targeted family was victimised due to these festival threats or because of the communityโs ongoing peace initiatives.
The organisation urged federal investigators to explicitly detail the conspiracy in the forthcoming chargesheet and identify all planners, financiers, and facilitators.
Additionally, TIM called on both central and state governments to disclose what preventive actions were taken following their warnings.
It further requested that the NIA probe potential links between the UKNA and broader militant or civil-society networks, while the NIA confirmed that its investigation remains ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network.
