Incessant rain in the past 72 hours has wreaked havoc in Diphu town as the water from the nearby rivers continues to submerge the town.

Floodwaters have submerged the residences of commissioners of Ward 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Even though the rain stopped on Sunday morning, however, there has been no respite from the rising water levels.

“The water level is likely to rise further,” sources informed.

People left their homes in search of safer places and have taken shelter on the roadside.

Diphu market is completely shut down.

Panbari, parts of Rongthe-ang, Ram Thakur Colony, Sarthe Colony, Caravan Basti, Ginning Mill, DIC Colony, Binapani High School, etc have been inundated.
