A 15-year-old Indian girl Hita Gupta is spreading joy by sending colourful gift packs and beautiful handwritten notes to the patients marooned in nursing homes due to the lockdown in the United States.

As per reports, Gupta, who is a tenth standard student of Pennsylvania’s Conestoga High School has an NGO ‘Brightening A Day’.

She sends gift packs and handwritten notes through her NGO to the nursing home residents to help them in beating boredom and loneliness in the lockdown period.

The gift packs that she sends contains one puzzle book, one colouring book, and a pack of colour pencils or crayons.

The handwritten notes for nursing home residents are mostly written by her brother.

Gupta’s initiative has not only brought happiness in the lives of nursing home residents but has also been made the staff happy.

The staff of the nursing homes expressed their gratitude towards Gupta for bringing notes of positivity and cheer among their patients.

The US Embassy in New Delhi also praised Gupta for her unique and thoughtful initiative.

“Need some inspiration? 15-year-old Hita Gupta, from Pennsylvania, USA, is brightening the lives of nursing home residents with gift packs through her NGO, Brighten A Day,” the US Embassy in New Delhi wrote on its Facebook page.

“She aims to lift the spirits of those who are in need of some cheer by sending them love, hope, and joy through cards and gifts. During the COVID-19 lockdown period, she is sending handwritten notes and gift packs to cheer the residents and help them overcome loneliness and isolation. More power to you Hita!” the embassy stated.
