This was stated by the Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Hitendra Nath Goswami, at a meeting which was held on Monday at the Central Hall of Assam Legislative Assembly under the joint aegis of State Health Department and UNICEF, Assam.
The meeting was organized for inauguration of a handbook for journalists on malnutrition prepared by UNICEF Assam in collaboration with K K Handiqui State Open University.
Speaking on the occasion Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that in order to address malnutrition among children and women in the State there is utmost need of collective implementation and in order to lead the society in this regard, the journalists should be well educated about health issues.

MLA Sherman Ali also spoke on the occasion and praised the publication of such a handbook.
The meeting was attended by high level officials including Amlan Baruah, Commissioner and Secretary, Agriculture Department.
Officer-in-charge of UNICEF Assam, Chhaya Kunwar delivered the welcome address. Dr Shweta Sharma, nutrition specialist and Tahseen Alam, communication specialist, both from UNICEF Assam spoke about malnutrition in Assam and recommendations for addressing challenges.
Attending the meeting senior journalist Neerja Choudhury laid emphasis on the perspectives from the grassroots level and applauded the publication of the handbook.
The meeting was also attended by a number of college students.
