Pathsala robbery

In a sensational incident of robbery at Pathsala town under Barpeta district of Assam, an amount of Rs 10 lakhs approximately has been allegedly looted by a group of dacoits from the office of the Assistant Executive Engineer, Pathsala Electrical Sub-division in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

The said amount was collected as electricity bills from the consumers.

The incident took place around midnight on Sunday, according to the police sources.

It is alleged that the night watchman, one Aswini Talukdar who was on duty was tied up by the dacoits in a nearby office before looting the cash from the office.

Meanwhile, police have started investigation into the incident.

In the same night, in another stationary shop named ‘Good Luck Store’, miscreants made good their escape with a cash of Rs 35,000 by breaking the backdoor near Station Road at Pathsala.

It is alleged that both the incidents could take place because of lack of proper patrolling in the town during night hours.

Meanwhile, locals have demanded adequate patrolling in the town so that similar incidents do not recur.
