“Moreover, bamboo is the main forest product of Tripura,” the CM said.

He further said that beside Tripura, bamboo is extensively grown in Assam and Mizoram as well.

“The Northeast alone can produce 50 per cent bamboo of the entire country,” Deb said.

“Through bamboo cultivation and its use in industry, Tripura’s economy can change and people can make a decent earning,” the CM added.

Biplab Deb claimed that bamboo gives 35 per cent extra oxygen.

Stressing on planting sapling Biplab Deb told in Indian culture tree is worshipped from the earlier times.

“Our culture has taught us to worship trees. I appeal every one that they should plant at least two saplings a year,” the CM said.

“This is the necessity of the time. Let’s make trees our best friends,” Deb concluded.
