Allegations are rife that a major scam has taken place in the compensation disbursement for the Potin-Joram stretch of the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Yazali Zilla Segment Trans-Arunachal Highway Compensation Deprived Forum on Friday claimed that the compensation disbursement for the Potin-Joram stretch the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) is one of the biggest scandals in the State.
Interacting with media at the Press Club in Itanagar, the forum’s spokesman Bengia Tolum alleged that the Lower Subansiri district administration haphazardly distributed the compensation depriving many genuine beneficiaries and making a section of people richer who did not even own a ‘single inch of land to be given for the Trans-Arunachal Highway
Tolium further shared that no public hearing regarding claims and objections was held by the district administration during the first assessment in 2009.
He alleged that highway scandal involved a whopping amount of around Rs 188 crore which was being sanctioned for compensation but was not disbursed to the real beneficiaries.
The forum claimed that information gathered through the RTI Act revealed that several individuals who do not own plots or structures along the stretch were paid crores of rupees as compensation.
The forum has now a CBI investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for compensation of the Trans-Arunachal Highway.
It also demanded an independent inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into the whole matter.
