Tripura Tribal Welfare and Forest Minister Mewar Kumar Jamatia during a meeting in Dharmanagar Sub-division of North Tripura district on Monday called for peace, tranquility in the State and said it is time to work for the development of the tribals.

Addressing the meeting organized by the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) at Kadamtala Town Hall under Dharmanagar Sub-division, IPFT leader and Tripura Tribal Welfare and Forest Minister Jamatia said, “It is the utmost necessity to work for the development of the minorities and tribals in the State who were exploited by the previous Left Front Government for the last several years.”

The IPFT also conducted a rally which was joined by a large number of minority people who gathered in the meeting.

It may be mentioned that the Bharatiya janata Party (BJP) formed a coalition Government in Tripura with its ally IPFT after winning the last Tripura Assembly elections ending the 25-year-old Left Front Government led by Manik Sarkar.

The meeting of the IPFT at Kadamtala was also attended by assistant secretary of the party Dhireh Debbarma along with other leaders.

Delivering his speech, Tribal Welfare and Forest Minister Jamatia said, “In past 9 years, the IPFT has been working for the development of the tribal people and will continue to work for them. The tribal and minority people of the State, who were exploited, are completely deprived of health, education, drinking water and other basic facilities,” adding, “The scenario must change.”

As a part of the meeting, Minister Jamatia also visited Juvarajnagr Dhipibon area where more than 200 minority people joined the IPFT.
