A delegation of Sikkim BJP unit met Assam BJP leader and MLA Ashok Singhal in Gangtok on Monday.
The team led by State BJP president D B Chauhan included party legislators and functionaries.
Singhal informed the BJP team that he was in Gangtok to invite chief minister P S Golay to the North Eastern Council (NEC) meeting scheduled to be held at Guwahati on September 8.
Union Home minister Amit Shah would chair the meeting.

The NEC meet would be followed by the meeting of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) on September 9 to which Singhal also invited State BJP president and all 10 MLAs of the party.
The NEDA meeting being chaired by BJP national president Amit Shah would also be attended by Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) president and Sikkim chief minister P S Golay.
NEDA convenor and Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and NEDA partners of all north-eastern states would attend the meeting.
This was stated in a State BJP press release quoting Singhal.
During the meeting, the BJP leader held discussion on several organizational issues of the party with the MLAs.
He also expressed his happiness on the 10 former SDF MLAs joining the BJP and hoped that they would play a major role in the State.
