The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sikkim Pradesh has expressed its gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving more than Rs one lakh crores to Sikkim for its development in different sectors in last four years. The party expressed that it shows the concern of the Prime Minister towards Sikkim and its people.
Addressing a press conference in Gangtok on Friday, BJP state president, D B Chauhan stated that various projects and schemes have been launched during the Modi Government which focuses on the overall development of Sikkim.
He added that the projects and schemes were launched in different sectors like construction of highways, repair of roads and bridges, infrastructure developments, drinking water, food security, health, education, poverty elevation, hydro power project, rural electrification, transport and communication, public health, civil aviation, pollution control, forest and environment, urbanisation.
“All sectors have been rejuvenated and the people are empowered through digital technology. Swacchh Bharat Abhiyan has been a boon to the health and hygiene of the people of Sikkim,” he said.
Chauhan mentioned that the Modi government’s great initiative in direct benefit transfer has been benefited the people to a great extend as people now get their share directly in their bank account.
“There are total 130 central government scheme many of which are not implemented in Sikkim which was very sad. If all schemes would have implemented sincerely then there would be no poverty and unemployed in Sikkim,” he said.
He also presented figures of the amounts of fund given by Modi Government to Sikkim during 2014 to 2018. It is informed that amount of Rs 965.3 crores given for preserving sacred lakes and wetland complex, Rs 16, 756.89 crores for strengthening of transmission, rural electrification and construction of dams, Rs 640. 44 crores for community centres, Rs 41, 453 crores for construction, broadening, carpeting and repairing of roads in Sikkim and construction of national highway, Rs 31, 090.1 crores in MGNREGA, PMGSY, PMAY and others, Rs 1345. 90 crores for poverty alleviation, augmentation of water supply and RUSA and Rs 4013 crores for 43 KM long railway track with four stations, which comes total to around 96, 264.63 crores
He added that the figure could be more than one lakh crores of rupees as the party has still not received details on Swacchh Bharat Abhiyan, digital India and on welfare schemes for different sections. He added that these authentic data were taken from the Centre and these only include the fund which were sanctioned and utilised. He added that this shows that how Modi government was sincere and concerned towards Sikkim with Act East policies for the State.
