“The marathon will be organised to celebrate the World Runners Day, which falls on June 5,” said Sikkim Mountaineering Association president Kunzang Gyatso during a press conference at Gangtok on Thursday.
Gyatso mentioned that the high altitude marathon will have runners in the age group of 14 to 60 years.
He added that through the event is an initiative to create mass awareness on running and health.
A total of 70 runners have already registered their names so far and the registration process is still open offline.
Gyatso expressed his belief that such event would further promote tourism and adventure sports in the state.
