Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) has expressed dismay over the delay in initiation of two-lane road project under SARDP-NE (Chakhabama-Zunheboto via Chozuba sub-division and Pfutsero-Phek) due to reasons related to compensation.

In a press statement issued to the media, CPO general secretary, Mutsivoyi Kotso, stated that the CPO executive council held its emergency meeting on December 5 last and unanimously adopted resolutions for pursuance and implementation of the project.

CPO executive council has sought public support and cooperation for the larger interest of the community.

In the resolution, the CPO asserted that it shall under no situation allow the construction and completion of two lane road in the district to be blocked or abandoned because of any individual or group whatsoever.

CPO also endorsed the decision of the district administration and concerned department to undertake the re-verification of the affected areas under public protest and to press upon the district administration and concerned department to initiate the exercise with immediate effect.

CPO also demanded release of the revised compensation at the earliest in order to enable the working agency to start the work immediately.

Further the statement mentioned that the CPO executive council resolved to stand by the notification issued by Deputy Commissioner of Phek that new structure or under construction along the mentioned stretch of road post July  would not be taken up for compensation.

Meanwhile, the executive council has authorized the office of CPO to appoint a high level committee on two-lane road project in Phek district.

The committee would coordinate with the district administration, concerned department and agency. CPO has appealed to its units to ensure reasonable settlement compensation and hassle free timely construction of the project.
