Condolence messages from all quarters of Northeast poured in when the news of theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking’s death spread like a wildfire on Wednesday.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his condolence at the death of one of the most brilliant scientists of the world. He was 76.

The death of Stephen Hawking coincided with the birthday of another great scientist, Albert Einstein.
He suffered from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) a neurodegenerative disease which left him wheelchair-bound.
But Hawking overcame a debilitating disease to publish many popular books probing the mysteries of the universe. He was also a cosmologist, astronomer, mathematician.
