The first executive meeting of the new body was held on Sunday at Hotel Gaurang Valley in Kokrajhar of Assam.

Talking to media persons, Pappa Dey, president of the Federation admitted the formation of the new committee saying that they are an independent body with nothing to with the other group.

Dey said the other group has failed to work for the cause of the community’s issue so the new group was formed on September 2 last.

On the National Register of Citizens (NRC), Dey said the All BTC Bengali Youth Student’s Federation will not accept Prateek Hajela, the state coordinator for the NRC project in Assam, suggesting that the Supreme Court should allow that only 10 out of the 15 documents could be submitted afresh in the claims exercise.

He said many genuine Indian citizens are being harassed in the name of D-voters.

The federation slammed the State Government for doing little in initiating measures to solve D-voters issue, which has been creating resentment among Hindu Bengali citizens in the State.

The Federation also said they would start vigorous movement in the State if the Bengali Hindus are being harassed and genuine Indian citizens are left out of the NRC.
