A celebrity Britain-based Indian chef Atul Kocchar is all set to take northeastern cuisine to the international level by opening a new restaurant in London soon.
The new restaurant Kanishka will be a 127 seater restaurant and has been named after the second century Kushan dynasty king known for his conquests and patronage of Buddhism.

The menu of the restaurant will feature cusines from the remote areas of the northeast region along with its ingredients, flavours and cooking methods.
Apart from the cuisine of Northeast India, the menu will also introduce diners to the dishes of Nepal, Bangladesh and China.
The restaurant which will open in mid-March will have a bar, a terrace at the front, and an intimate, 12-cover garden room downstairs.

The interiors of the restaurant have been designed by Fabled Studio, a London-based interior design studio founded by Tom Strother, Steven Saunders and Simon Gallagher in 2011.
The door of the restaurant is an antique one and the interiors will feature verdant foliage against calming shades of blue and intricate beaded details.
Some of the dishes of the restaurant include Kachela Maas, a Sikkim inspired venison tartare with mustard oil mayonnaise, naan crouton and onions, Samundri Khazana Alleppey a dish of pan seared seafood, Alleppey sauce and smoked cabbage poriyal.
The restaurant also have an interesting feature called ‘World of Imagination’ which will give customers a chance to make a drink of their choice from a menu of herb and spice distillates, mixed naturally flavoured tonic waters and spirit.
It will also feature an extensive whisky menu with over 50 types of whisky that are mostly from India.
Kocchar was the first Indian chef to receive a Michelin Star in the year 2001. Michelin Stars are a rating system to grade restaurants based on their quality.
