In the Northeast and Hill State category, Nagaland topped the chart in the in State Services Portal Assessment in 2019 NeSDA report (National e-governance Service Delivery Assessment).

The report was announced on Saturday in the 23rd NCeG in Mumbai.

Informing about the achievement, the Nagaland government on its Twitter handle – MyGov Nagaland – said: “Nagaland tops the chart in NE & Hill States Category, in State Services Portal Assessment in 2019 NeSDA report (National e-governance Service Delivery Assessment) announced today in 23rd NCeG at Mumbai.”

While Nagaland is on the top of the list of the Northeast & Hill states with the overall score of 0.47, Assam comes second with 0.28 while Manipur remains on the third spot with a score of 0.23.

The positions of the other Northeast states are – Tripura in 5th position with 0.18, Meghalaya in the sixth position with 0.14 and Mizoram comes in the 7th position with 0.08.

The position of Arunachal Pradesh is 8th with 0.04 and Sikkim’s comes in the lowest position with the overall score of 0.03.

Riding on the strength of their recent digitalisation initiatives, Haryana and West Bengal came into the top six of the first NeSDA, said the survey that assesses state-wise performance on delivery of government services to businesses and citizens.

While Haryana stood in the third position, West Bengal secured the fourth position.

At least seven of the top 10 positions on the index have been secured by states that have non-BJP governments at the helm.

NeSDA was a key initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018 to push the government machinery towards his promise of ‘minimum government, maximum governance’.

It is also aimed at pushing up India’s overall performance on the global e-governance index, an important parameter to attract investment.

The list of Union Territories is topped by Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
