The Mizoram governnment has curtailed the period of deferment of government employees salaries in view of a slight improvement in the financial conditions of the state.
A government order on Friday said that salary deferment of government servants for a period of three months from June to August will be effective till July.
All government employees will be paid in full from August, the order said.
It said that the employee having General Provident Fund (GPF) account can opt to either impound the reimbursement of the deferred salary to the GPF account or receive in cash.
For employees, who opted for cash payment, repayment of the salary so deferred in respect of June will be done along with payment of salary for the month of August, the order said.
Accordingly, deferred salary in respect of July will be paid in September along with payment of salary for the month of September, it said.
For government employee who opted for credit to GPF account, repayment of the deferred salary for the months of June and July will be done in one installment along with payment of salary of August, it added.
The Mizoram government had deferred payment of part of the salaries of government employees, including all India services officers, to alleviate and ease the financial constraint caused by the spread of novel coronavirus in the state.
The deferment came into effect from June.
