Congress leader and Mizoram’s former art and culture minister PC Zoram Sangliana died of Covid19 infection on Saturday.

He was 65 years old at the time demise.

The news has been confirmed by Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga in a tweet on Saturday.

Zoramthanga has expressed deep condolence to the bereaved family of the former.

“It is with deep sorrow that we have to bid farewell to Mr. PC Zoram Sangliana, Ex-Minister, another victim of COVID-19, which is currently plaguing our world,” Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga tweeted.

“My sincere condolences to his bereaved family, and pray the Almighty comforts them during these hard times,” he added.

According to reports, the Congress leader passed away at 5:20 pm at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) in Aizawl.

He had tested positive for Covid19 on April 14.

Sangliana was admitted to the ZMC hospital on April 14 and lost the battle against Covid19 on Saturday.

Zoramsangliana represented Kolasib Assembly constituency.

It has been reported that he recently travelled to Kolkata.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 10 people were discharged in Mizoram.

So far, a total of 4,637 people have recovered from the disease.

While 7 people were discharged from Kolasib district, 2 persons were discharged from Aizawl district and 1 person was discharged from Lunglei district.

Mizoram has so far registered 5,283 Covid19 positive cases.

The state currently has 634 active Covid19 cases.
