The Meghalaya government has asked all landlords and employers to be generous and extend a helping hand to tenants and those working for/with them.
The government has urged the landlords not to force the tenants to pay house rent during this crisis situation.
“There many daily wagers and students who are staying as tenants across the state,” said deputy CM Prestone Tynsong.
“I request all employers and landlords to kindly help those who work with them or are living as tenants in their houses,” Tynsong said.
The 21-day national lockdown was called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an aim to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
So far, no positive cases have been reported from Meghalaya.
