This was the first time that SIAL Innovation Awards were being organised in India.

SIAL is the world’s biggest food exhibition that began in 1964 in Paris.
Five Indian companies were among 10 finalists selected from across the globe.
The other shortlisted companies were one each from Finland, South Korea, the United States, Poland and Bulgaria.

COLKS is educating farmers of the Northeast and also giving them access to the outside world.
COLKS founder Vijay Byrsat aims to create an ecosystem that propagates inclusive economic growth through sustainable environment harvesting.
It further aims to empower the rural population of a region through innovative and market-oriented training.
COLKS believe in three goals- social responsibility, economic equity and environmental sustainability.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also congratulated Byrsat after he won the award.
