Guwahati: The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) has strongly denied reports by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that it is helping banned militant groups in Manipur.

The NSCN (I-M) called the reports “misleading, cruel and vicious” and accused the Indian government of waging a “proxy war” against them.

The group claims that Indian security forces, including the Assam Rifles and paratroopers, are regularly bombing their positions in Myanmar on behalf of the Kuki National Army (KNA) (B) and the People’s Defence Force (PDF).

They denied any recent fighting with either group.

The NSCN (IM) said that the Indian government doesn’t want them stationed in the Myo Thit area of Myanmar and is providing logistical and material support to the KNA (B) to fight against Meitei revolutionary groups there.

They also allege that Indian security forces are allowing Kuki militant groups from Manipur to enter Myanmar to fight these Meitei groups.

The NSCN (IM) further accused Indian security forces of sealing the border in Manipur near Namlee and Wanglee, restricting movement and putting civil society organizations under pressure.
