A day after detection of 16 COVID19 positive cases in Tripura, no new positive case was reported in the state on Thursday.

“Till 6.30 pm today, 213 individuals were tested at the VRDL (Virus Research and Diagnosis Laboratories) of RIMS(103) and JNIMS (110) and all are found Covid-19 negative,” said Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, additional health director and spokesperson of the health department.

“The Trunaat machine recently installed at RIMS to augment existing testing capacity is now put in use,” the state’s Covid-19 common control room said in a statement.

“The state government in consultation with stakeholders has adopted the policy of immediate discharge of ‘result’ negative person for home quarantine,” it said.

“The approved guideline of home quarantine is a scientific and effective means of prevention and is practiced worldwide.The guidelines are available at www.mohfw.gov.in,” it added.

On Wednesday, a total of 16 persons including 10 females, who are said to be returnees from other parts of the country, tested positive for COVID19.

As a result the total number of active COVID19 positive cases in Manipur, which was once declared as a Corona-free state, has risen to 23.

The first two patients, who tested positive for COVID19, were discharged from the hospitals on April 12 and 21 after their recovery from the disease following treatment.

Meanwhile, as per the status update report on COVID19 issued by the state surveillance officer of integrated disease surveillance programme, a total of 3,372 samples were tested for COVID19 and 25 were found positive.

On the other hand, as many as 2,16,067 persons entering the state through various entry points since January this year have been screened.

Around 1,753 persons are presently at the government quarantine centres while 6,743 are at community quarantine centres.

So far 2,571 people have completed quarantine in Manipur.
