Former Goa Chief Minister Luizinho Faleiro has been appointed as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in charge of Meghalaya and other States of the the northeastern region, except Assam.
Faleiro will replace AICC general secretary CP Joshi, who was in-charge of the northeastern States.
Faleiro was appointed by the All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi.
A statement said that the AICC appreciated the hard work and contribution of Joshi while working as the in-charge of the northeastern States.
Faleiro was the AICC general secretary in charge of Meghalaya till September 2014.
Faleiro has been given the new assignment when Meghalay is going to by-polls on August 23, 2018.
